Abstract

[4- 14C]-δ-Aminolaevulinic acid (δ-ALA) was employed to study the specificity of δ-ALA incorporation into chlorophyll in etiolated Euglena gracilis. Degradation of chlorophyll a to acetate and propionate, obtained from ring B, indicated that, although some of the radioactivity was incorporated, it did not result from incorporation of intact δ-ALA.
