Abstract
The article describes the objectives of the Castrum Lubenov project, the result of which is this book. It is based primarily on archaeological sources from the rescue survey of a destroyed residential and defense complex in Lubrza, Lubuskie voivodeship (W Poland). The main goal of the study was to examine the relationship between objects and their owners, which was achieved by means of the analysis of archaeological data in confrontation with sources from three levels: historical (as an object belonging to a specific owner, located on the medieval border of Silesia, Greater Poland and Brandenburg), architectural (reality limited and determined by the space of a specific, small fortified facility), and geographic (environmental conditions for the location of the motte-and-bailey castle). This was to allow the reconstruction of the biographies of the artefacts and the biographies of their owners. According to the objectives of the project, metal objects were treated only as a medium allowing for a broader look at the daily activities of the inhabitants of the tower, which gives the book the dimension of an anthropological study.
