Abstract
A method is proposed for casting steel in ingot molds by directing a “submerged” jet through a long refractory tube. The method is proposed as an alternative to the top- and bottom-pouring of steel. A slag-forming mixture is fed onto the surface of the molten steel. The method makes it possible to obtain a quality surface on the ingot.
