Abstract

Caspase 8 is closely associated with death receptor-mediated apoptosis. In recent years, some progress has been made in studies on the roles of caspase 8 in apoptosis. Besides initiating apoptosis, caspase 8 has many other biological functions, such as participating in T cell proliferation and immune responses, cell adhesion/migration, vascular endothelium formation, etc. As a key initiator of the Fas-mediated apoptotic pathway, caspase 8 is closely associated with repair of skin damage, cicatrization and lichen planus, and also plays some roles in counteracting inflammation. Key words: Skin diseases; Caspase 8; Apoptosis
