Abstract
AbstractBy all accounts, today's business environment is a “perfect storm” for fraud. Today's economic climate places more emphasis on success—no matter how it is achieved. Many business leaders and managers begin to rationalize away any wrongdoings as completely appropriate. And computer technology has often made fraud easier. As a result of all this, self‐serving and inappropriate decisions may now routinely be made without any without fear of scrutiny. In layman's terms, this is a workable definition of fraud. The authors of this article take a close look at this troubling situation and discuss what to do about it. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
