Caseload midwifery often results in stressed midwives

Abstract

Sidone Chilufya makes some interesting points in her article suggesting caseload midwifery as a solution to overloaded maternity services (career development June 16). But I question her choice of statistics. Midwifery student attrition is around 10 per cent, not the 50 per cent quoted. The statistics quoted are the exception rather than the norm.
