Abstract
Objective To investigate the risk factors and primary factors of neovascular glaucoma. Methods A total of 159 (178 eyes) of patients who admittei in our hospital in January 2006 - December 2009because ofneovascular glaucoma were selected as case group,159 matched patients without glaucoma were as control group.Direct causes of NVG were analyzed in case group.Further, the information of age, sex, occupation, smoking history, drinking history, psychological stress, sleep, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, eye surgery, eye trauma history, history of myopia, hyperopia, family history, intraocular pressure, blood pressure, hemoglobin,ESR,blood glucose, blood cholesterol and triglyceride were collected.Univariate and multivariate methods of analysiswere used to analyze the relationship between these factors and the occurrence of NVG.Results Of all the direct causes of NVG,retinal vein occlusion was found in 61 cases and 61eyes (38.4%),diabetic retinopathy in 54 cases (34.0%) and 66 eyes (42.5%),other lesions in 44 cases (27.7%)and 51 eyes (28.7%).Univariate analysis indicated that the factors of smoking history, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, eye surgery, history of ocular trauma, intraocular pressure, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood triglyceride had statistically significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05).The factors of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, history of ocular trauma, intraocular pressure, blood sugar, blood triglyceride were introduced in regression equation. All of them were risk factors to NVG (P <0.10).Conclusions Retinal vein occlusion and diabetic retinopathy are the main cause of NVG.Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, history of ocular trauma, intraocular pressure, blood sugar, blood triglyceride are NVG occurred risk factors. Key words: neovascular glaucoma; risk factors; case-control study
