Abstract

This chapter provides a general introduction to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education in India and how it has helped to establish IT clusters. Technopolis cities in India were especially affected by STEM education, which led to the emerging trend of integration of STEM education and technology policy in select regions in India. Policies were implemented to support STEM education in primary schools through Ph.D. level, in addition to Indian government development of STEM models to support twenty-first century technology development and education reform. This chapter concludes with common as well as unique aspects of STEM education in the technopolis of India.
