Abstract

A 12-year-old Warmblood gelding was presented to the clinic for evaluation of a non-healing wound and lameness in the left hind limb. Three weeks previously, a puncture wound had been sustained on the medial aspect of the metatarsal region of the left hind limb.The horse had been treated initially with systemic antibiosis (potentiated sulphonamides), non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (phenylbutazone), topical wound care and bandaging.
