Abstract

Case study research has a focus on a specific case to obtain an in-depth understanding of a problem or concern that is present within a particular context. Case study research has a focus on a specific case to obtain an in-depth understanding of a problem or concern that is present within a particular context. The choice of cases should be purposive, with an intention to obtain cases that can provide a unique perspective. The choice of case tends to be the most challenging aspect of performing case study research, and the reader is advised to consult the articles in the recommended reading before commencing the research. The strengths and limitations of case study research are then discussed. Greater applicability of the findings of case study research can be achieved by using multiple case studies, such as across different countries, and performing cross-case synthesis and analysis to identify themes that are common across all of the studies.
