Abstract
This paper reports the parallel development and formative evaluation of a web-based interactive learning course based on Matlab in the field of digital signal processing and digital audio signal processing. The challenge of creating an interactive course is discussed, and the advantages, time and cost-effectiveness are described. The architecture of system is briefly described and it can be easily extended to other fields to give students additional opportunity to an active learning. Illustrative examples of the exercises with speech signal are given in a short course description. Results of the evaluation provided a feedback for further development of the system, which lead to its enhancement and its extension.
