Abstract

Distinctive features and advantages of an innovative method, namely case study method, based upon active training through analysis of situations, are discussed. This method is widely applied in American and West-European education practice; it demonstrates a high creative potential. The experience of application of the case study method at library schools of the USA is described as well as the first attempts of its implementation into library and information education in Russia.
