Abstract

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is the most common form of violence against women. It describes the physical and sexual violence to a spouse or intimate partner and is a common health care issue. It has a significant negative consequence on the mental health of the woman which includes depression, suicide, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and alcohol abuse. The stress associated with IPV can also result in chronic health problems such as headache, back pain, hypertension, and chest pain. The present study has reviewed the earlier literature and discussed this issue with the help of 3 case reports of IPV. Furthermore, the author put forward that there might be an increase in IPV during and after the COVID-19 lockdown across the country.
