Abstract

Background: Unicornuate uteri occur with a frequency of 1 in 5400 women. A unicornuate uterus is associated with a rudimentary horn in 74–90% of cases. The horn will be noncommunicating in 92%. If the noncommunicating horn contains a functional endometrium (ASRM Mullerian Anomaly Classification IIb), it often requires surgical resection for symptomatic relief. There are less than 35 cases in the literature describing laparoscopic resection of uterine horns. This case series reviews the preoperative assessment, operative management and postoperative results of the laparoscopic approach to management of 4 functional rudimentary uterine horns.
