Abstract

Falls are common in elderly and it causes one of injury. It is important to make the relaxed approach to older people having fear of falling. Thus, reiki, which is an energy therapy, provides relief to individuals by establishing a balance among body, mind and spirit. In this article, reiki was performed for once a week, 7 weeks to an elderly with parkinson\'s disease who had frequent falls history. Each of reiki session was took approximately 60 minutes. Elderly’s blood pressure and pulse were measured before and after reiki. The number of falls were determined according to self-report of elderly. Mood of elderly was evaluated with using Geriatric Depression Scale. As a result of applied reiki, it was founded decreasing in blood pressure, pulse, depressive mood and number of falls.
