Abstract

A 50-year-old female with a history of ulcerative colitis and autoimmune pancreatitis on monoclonal antibody therapy was found to have dispersed, small ‘black spots’ or pigment on uterine, peritoneal and bowel surfaces during a routine total laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for treatment of endometriosis. Histological examination of the ‘black spots’ revealed pigment-laden macrophages. These were frequently seen adjacent to and directly associated with endometriosis.
