Abstract

Amyloidosis is caused by the deposition in extracellular tissues of insoluble proteinaceous fibrils and can present with a wide variety of clinical manifestations. The disorder is usually systemic in nature but, less commonly, amyloid may be deposited in a focal manner. Localized amyloidosis affecting the paranasal sinuses has been very rarely reported. We present a case of focal amyloidosis of the maxillary sinus and describe its plain film, CT and MR appearances.
