Abstract

Presentation of Case A 69-year-old woman was admitted to the clinic because of systemic lupus erythematosus and painful lesions on the feet. The patient had been well until eight years earlier, when she began to lose her scalp hair and a rash developed. Evaluation showed periungual erythema of the fingers and mild anemia; a test for antinuclear antibodies was positive in a titer of 1:256, with a speckled pattern, and a test for anti–native DNA antibodies was negative.
