Abstract

Many hospitals and integrated health networks are turning to case management as a means to control costs by more effectively managing resource utilization. The problem arises when an organization does not define the scope of case management or does not identify criteria specific to the needs of the organization and the population it serves. Integrating case management into the existing organizational structure and systems is key to its success.
