Abstract

Presentation of Case First admission. A forty-four-year-old woman, gravida 8, para 8, entered the hospital because of vaginal bleeding. The patient had normal menstrual periods until two years previously, when they became irregular. On the day of entry a single episode of sudden, profuse vaginal bleeding occurred. The patient received an incomplete course of arsenical therapy seventeen years previously because of positive Hinton and Wassermann tests. Her intake of alcohol had been excessive for many years.
