Abstract

Analysis of the two-step cascade intensities in 42 nuclei from the mass range 114⩽A⩽200 allowed one to get realistic picture of the coexistence and interaction of the quasiparticle and phonon excitations of a nucleus below the neutron binding energy Bn. Correct theoretical description of nuclear properties in this excitation energy interval is, probably, impossible without accounting for nuclear transition at Eex≃3−4 MeV from one type of excitations to another.
