Abstract

Phase-locked pump–probe measurements have been carried out with carrier-envelope phase (CEP)-controlled pulses, and direct distinction between pure phase shift and envelope time delay has been clearly demonstrated. The CEP is also found to be a controllable parameter also in perturbative phase-coherent experiments, which enables independent manipulation of the phase and the delay.
