Abstract

Premeiotic stamen primordia of tobacco were cultured for 6 weeks on liquid media supplemented with sucrose and kinetin. On 1.0 ppm kinetin, organoids and carpelloid outgrowths arose on the anthers, but not at [Formula: see text] this level of kinetin. The frequency of carpelloids is also governed by sugar concentration in the medium.
