Abstract
Background and Aims: It’s known that HIV-infected individuals have increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. However, it remains controversial whether anti-retroviral treatment (ART) reduces this risk. In this 5-year prospective study, we evaluated changes in intima media thickness (IMT), a quantitative marker of atherosclerosis, in HIV-infected subjects receiving or not the ART during observation period.
