PreviewCarotid endarterectomy has evolved from a radical procedure involving excision of the diseased segment with end-to-end anastomosis of the parent vessel to a routine and uncomplicated operation for patients at high risk for impending stroke. But exactly which patients are these? And what are the risks and complications of the procedure? Dr Loftus reviews the recent findings.
