Abstract

The authors report a case of carotid body tumor with some notable characteristics: an exceptional pain syndrome, an unusually large size, aspects which suggest an angiodystrophic situation, and the total obliteration of the internal carotid artery. They discuss the different aspects of the case and the treatment chosen — preoperative embolization and complete surgical excision.
