Abstract
This paper describes a tool in the range of Computer Aided Design and more precisely in the electrical design area, developed by the Informatics Department of Italimpianti Co., in close relationship with the Electrical Engineering Department of the same company. CARO ( Cable Automatic ROuting) is a system suitable for electrical plant estimating and executive design, and it is also able to aid the designer in many ways. The main possibilities of the system are concerned with cable automatic routing and accommodation. This paper supplies a description of the system with regard to its features and the advantages that it is able to offer, an analysis of the basic planning assumptions and, lastly, the input-output specification.
