Abstract

Activities of carnitine acetyl- and carnitine palmitoyltransferase in whole homogenates and isolated mitochondria from human fetal heart, liver, brain, skeletal muscle, intestine and placenta were studied. Both enzymes were considerably more active in human fetal liver and heart than in the same organs of fetal rats. Activities in fetal muscle and brain, however, were very low.
