Abstract
In this short commentary I describe the early interest that Dr. Carlos S. Alvarado demonstrated toward parapsychology and psychical research. I present some anecdotes when Carlos was in his late teens and his deep interest in the history of the field.

Summary
In a couple of months, we began to share our interest in parapsychology and a friendship that would last for five decades. I clearly remembered that we both had a passion for the history of the field, mental and physical mediums. We developed an interest in spontaneous psi phenomena, like poltergeist. A couple of years later we founded a privately published journal titled Explorando lo Paranormal (Exploring the Paranormal).
