Abstract

Summary Designing appropriate interventions for ethnic or minority elders requires assessment of a wide scope of needs. These include the individual's medical, psychosocial, economic, cultural, and environmental conditions. Nurses who are sensitive to the patient's cultural back-ground and expectations of the health care system will be better able to establish trust, anticipate needs, and preserve the integrity of their ethnic elderly patients.
