Abstract

Many schools have structured their athletics departments so that both the men's and women's teams in the same sport share the same coaches and other staff and designate one individual as the director and/or head coach of the overall program. Although this approach is often used in connection with cross country, indoor and outdoor track‐and‐field, and swimming/diving teams, depending on the size of the athletics program, this arrangement is also implemented for other sports, such as rowing, tennis, and golf, among others.
