Abstract

A new Bachelor of Education degree in Computers and Industrial Society, validated by the University of Manchester, will be introduced at North Cheshire College, Warrington in September. The curriculum has been designed to present a cogent system of study at degree level, while at the same time fulfilling a developing demand in schools and industry for graduates with a broad expertise in the new technology. Students will be recruited with an arts background of study as well as those who have followed courses with a scientific or business bias. The Degree covers not only the technical aspects of micro‐electronics but also the implications for industry, leisure, and society at large. It therefore has a number of units dealing with such topics as the structure of industry and commerce, trades unions and labour relations, the effects of the revolution in communication, the nature of work, and the satisfaction of leisure needs.
