Abstract

The life of a physics graduate with a brand new PhD is not always a happy one. Holders of doctoral degrees in physics and mathematics face tough fights for jobs in academia or industry. Those who take up post-doctoral fellowships often resign themselves to several years of relative poverty. Two panels organized by the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) have recently come up with possible solutions to post-PhD depression.
