Abstract

In the last decade, there have been some favourable developments in the management of invasive fungal diseases, including definitions, diagnosis and drugs for treatment. This has led to a gradual awareness that caring for patients at risk need not solely rely on an empirical therapy approach but that a degree of individualisation is possible, provided certain prerequisites are met.
