Abstract
In February 2008 I was involved in an educational fact-finding trip to The Gambia, in and around Banjul the capital of The Gambia. The visit was funded by the University of Hertfordshire. Prior to my visit I met with my colleagues and it was decided because of our various expertise that I would be responsible for investigating the role and education of support workers across all nursing sectors, in addition to making humanitarian links (commercial or non-commercial)
