Abstract

This article focuses on potential cardiovascular side effects secondary to psychotropic medications. These potential side effects are long established and, if not managed in a timely manner, can have an impact on tolerability and compliance. This article reviews the mechanism of action, assessment, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular side effects including impact on QT interval, myocarditis, cardiomyopathies, hypertension, orthostatic hypotension, and cardiovascular accidents. Clinicians prescribing these medications should have a good understanding of underlying mechanisms and management strategies. [ Psychiatr Ann . 2021;51(7):416–420.]
