Abstract
Cardiovascular complications are the first cause of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. The objective of our study was to: describe the cardiovascular morbidity and mortality of 49 hemodialysis patients with high cardiovascular risk from 2015 to 2019 at the Donka national hemodialysis center. It was longitudinal and analytical study and focused on 49 patients whose cardiovascular risk was assessed as high according to the Framingham score. The male sex was the most predominant, 53.1%. More than 50% had presented at least one cardiovascular event. The mean age ranged from 46.28 to 51.44 years during the period. The youngest age was 19 years and the oldest 69 years. Congestive heart failure was more frequent than other cardiovascular events, with 122 of 230 cases (53.04%). During the follow-up period, 8 cases of death (16.1%) occurred. Arteriovenous fistula and marital status were the identified factors. Hemodialysis patients with a high cardiovascular risk frequently present cardiovascular complications, hence the interest in reinforcing the means of clinical and para-clinical surveillance in order to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
