Abstract

Cardiac catheterization and cineangiocardiography were performed on 37 infants who had cardiovascular lesions associated with the congenital rubella syndrome. These infants were born in Illinois following the 1964 rubella epidemic. The studies revealed anatomic lesions of the pulmonary arterial system in all instances, patency of the ductus arteriosus in 75 per cent, and hypoplasia of the aortic isthmus in 16 per cent of the patients. Pulmonary arterial involvement was of variable severity but was characteristic in distribution.
