Abstract

HIV-associated cardiomyopathy and nephropathy have emerged as important complications of HIV infection in children. Unfortunately, the cause and pathogenesis of these complications remain unclear. Cardiomyopathy and nephropathy are both relatively late complications of HIV infection. With prolonged survival of HIV-infected children, we anticipate that these complications will become more prevalent. Thus, there is an urgent need to learn more about the cause and treatment of HIV-associated cardiomyopathy and nephropathy.
