Abstract
There are important financial issues that most cardiothoracic surgeons must face, including fair compensation for services. Issues concerning compensation can prove to be a source of contention between payers and cardiothoracic surgeons. To address these questions, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Workforce on Practice Management commissioned a Writing Task Force to improve awareness of variations and to concentrate knowledge of salary components related to compensation of the cardiothoracic surgeon.
