Abstract

Abstract A new contrast medium Cardio-Conray (a 2:1 mixture of meglumine iothalamate and sodium iothalamate) has been utilised for 928 angiocardiographic and aortographic injections in 458 patients. The angiographic quality was very satisfactory: there were no major adverse reactions (one death of doubtful attribution). Evidence is presented which suggests that a contrast medium of low sodium content—such as Cardio-Conray—should, in general, be used in all central angiocardiographies.
