Abstract
The objective was to assess the cardiac risk of elderly individuals attending Basic Health Units (UBS) in the North and South zones of Aracaju, SE. To achieve this objective, the study employed the Framingham Risk Score, which takes into account multiple cardiovascular risk factors, including age, blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol levels, body composition, and other pertinent indicators. It's worth noting that some of these factors can be modified, while others cannot. A total of 76 elderly individuals participated in the study ( = 67 ± 6.07 years). The highest mean values for cardiovascular risk factors were found for total cholesterol ( = 199.10 ± 43.57 mg/dL) and low density lipoprotein ( = 129.57 ± 34.85 mg/dL), followed by the systolic blood pressure ( = 124.8 ± 19.88 bpm). The cardiovascular risk of the sample group was characterized as high ( = 0.29% ± 1.5%). Furthermore, the mentioned percentage delta reflects the change in value over a specific period, providing insights into relative changes in a dynamic context. The outcome of this study was a comprehensive assessment of the cardiac risk in these UBS attendees, contributing to the understanding and appropriate treatment of cardiovascular conditions in this population.
