Abstract

SUMMARY Another area for extending the usefulness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation is explained in detail. This concerns the management of spectators who develop a cardiac emergency while watching a football game. Essentially, the program included the establishment of a portable cardiac resuscitation unit in the University of Nebraska Football Stadium during the 1966 season. Two patients developed cardiac arrest at different games, were successfully resuscitated, and were transferred to coronary care units for treatment during their initial hospitalization. Both patients left the hospital in satisfactory condition.
