Abstract

As cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques and technology have advanced, old Current Procedural Terminology® (CPT®) codes have become outdated, creating a variety of billing challenges. Last year, as the result of ongoing collaboration between the ACR and the American College of Cardiology, those old codes were overhauled. The enthusiasm that welcomed the new codes, however, quickly morphed into frustration after a surprise announcement by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
