Abstract

A nationwide cohort study has found an increased risk of cardiac malformations in infants exposed to methylphenidate during the first trimester of pregnancy, but no increased risk of overall congenital malformations from exposure to either methylphenidate or amphetamine. The study represented the first use of a research collaboration under which findings from the U.S. study were replicated using pregnancy registry data from five countries in the Nordic region.
