The cardiac rhythm has been monitored in 20 normal premature infants for a period of 5 hours utilizing a slow-speed electrocardiographic tape recorder. In contrast to studies using conventional electrocardiographic techniques, this survey revealed a high incidence of marked sinus arrhythmia, sinus bradycardia, and nodal rhythm.
