Abstract

A four-year-old haemophilic child developed cardiac arrest during infusion of plasma under general anaesthesia prior to dental extraction. Immediate thoracotomy and open cardiac massage rapidly restored cardiac action, and no postoperative complications ensued, the bleeding tendency being controlled by twice-daily intravenous infusions of Blomback 1-0 Fraction of plasma. The aetiology of the cardiac arrest is discussed.
