Abstract

The intercalated disc (ID) contains two complexes, adhesion junction (AJ) and connexin (Cx) gap junction (GJ). GJs provide the pathway for intercellular current flow, and AJ mediates normal mechanical coupling and plays an important role in the stability of GJs.
