Abstract

The effect of childbearing on the behaviour of carcinoma of the breast is analysed, and the effect of pregnancy coincidental with the onset of breast cancer is discussed. Delay in diagnosis of breast cancer occurring during pregnancy and the post-partum period is discussed, from the point of view of patient delay and delay occasioned by the doctor. The influence of previous pregnancies on the subsequent development of breast cancer Is reviewed. Treatment and survival rates are mentioned with regard to breast cancer arising during pregnancy, and also the effect of subsequent pregnancy on a patient with a previous history of carcinoma of the breast.
