Abstract
In this article, a convenient and safe procedure for combining TiO2/SiO2 nanohybrids with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), as a green and eco-friendly modifier agent for synthesizing an advanced and innovative catalyst, named TS-4/CM-β-CD, has been introduced. The activity performance of prepared catalyst is also studied for boosting oxidative desulfurization (ODS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) as a model fuel. The structural and morphological properties of the as-synthesized catalyst were identified by different instruments. The optimum conditions for ODS were achieved with catalyst dosage of 0.01 g, O/S molar ratio of 10 and temperature of 25 °C, to gain a high sulfur removal of 99.6% after 20 min. Besides, a proposed mechanism to consider the important role of the β-CD rings in DBT trapping during the oxidation reaction has been investigated. This work represents a simple method to synthesis an efficient and recoverable catalyst with environmental-friendly and economical materials, especially β-CD, as a safe modifier agent.
